Dear Whys Guy: “My Husband is Both Jekyll and Hyde"

Q: "Sometimes when I playfully tease my husband about something he said or did, he laughs and plays along. But other times, I can tease him about the exact same thing, and he gets mad. What's up with the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde routine?"
A: I'm guessing that the moments he plays along and makes like everything is "funny-funny" are the moments that he's feeling like he might want to "get some-get some" later in the evening, so he puts up with stuff that would normally annoy him or hurt his feelings in effort not to capsize the sex boat with an an argument. When you're in the mood, you let the little things slide. For instance: making fun of him because as he hung up the phone with his boss he absentmindedly told him he loved him? That's funny when you're in the mood.
But when you're not in the mood, and all you're thinking about is how Rick Santorum is your boss and he doesn't find that kind of mistake funny in the least bit, and how now your job as the Santorum campaign's official Pizza Purchaser for South Carolina is in jeopardy, then no, a little gentle ribbing at the hands of your loved one is not going to go over as well. Rick Santorum is not amused, and neither is your husband.
