Girl Auctions Virginity To Pay For College

As the mother of four daughters, I got nauseous when I googled college aid and up came an article (near the top!) about a teenager in New Zealand who was so desperate for tuition money that she auctioned off her virginity!

The 19 year old offered her virginity to the highest bidder on http://www.ineed.co.nz . She used the name "Unigirl" and decided not to post a photo in order to remain anonymous. What was the response? She says more than 30,000 people viewed her post, more than 1200 made bids...and she's accepted one for $45,000 New Zealand dollars, which is $32,000 U.S. dollars. She hasn't delivered yet and still has the right to change her mind, according to the Website.

Is this what outrageous college costs are forcing young women to do in order to get an education? Put their lives and health in danger? (By the way, prostitution is legal in New Zealand, so Unigirl isn't breaking any laws.)

Years ago, I researched a story on female college students selling their eggs in order to help pay for school. A little less shocking, but still sad. And we've all heard about female college students becoming strippers (oh, sorry... "dancers") in order to foot those college bills, as well.

I say colleges should be ashamed! What do you think?
