Call me a sap, but I'm always so inspired by the long-running friendship of Oprah, and her lifelong BFF Gayle King. I've learned the hard way that a friend who harbors jealousy is like a cancer that has to be cut out. Harsh words? Maybe, but believe me, it can be so unhealthy. Jealousy leads to resentment and all kinds of terrible things that a friendship cannot weather. It's why I am careful to only spend time with friends who cheer me on instead of secretly gritting their teeth when something good happens in my life. It's also why I try to stomp out any spark of jealousy I may feel toward a friend (hey, I'm human!).

Tell me about your friendships: Do you deal with occasional jealousy--from your end or theirs? Has it contributed to a friendship blowup?
