Rumors have abounded that Gosling is single once more, having allegedly broken up with actress Eva Mendes. The couple met on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines, but they haven't been seen together this year. In a recent interview with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, Mendes hinted that she and the Drive star had indeed broken up, telling Ellen DeGeneres that on Valentine's Day she would "watch The Notebook and weep."
However, to help old Ryan out on the dating front (because of course, being a Hollywood heartthrob, he must struggle to find a date!) a website has been launched to help the star find new love. The movie- and TV-streaming service Blinkbox has set up a site called "Date Ryan Gosling." It is offering Ryan fans the chance to date the 33-year-old actor. It states: "So who fancies a date with the hunkiest, most sought-after man on the ENTIRE planet? Cos we're taking requests! Get yours in ASAP because 1276 other singles have already sent us theirs."
All you have to do -- and it couldn't be simpler -- is answer the question, "What makes you perfect for Ryan Gosling?" The site says it will collate the best answers and send them to the star's management. But … yes, there is a but … there is no guarantee that Ryan will date the writer of the most creative response, or even that Ryan will read any of the heartfelt submissions. The site adds that: "Due to Gosling being the most eligible bachelor EVER we can't guarantee that anyone will actually get a date. But we'll do our best to pass on all applications to Ryan's management!"
One could argue that you gotta be in it to win it -- but ladies, I wouldn't hold your breath. Still, why not try? Gosling has paid attention to Blinkbox in the past when they set up The Gosline, a helpline for fans distressed by the news that the actor was considering (at the time) taking a break from acting. Ryan heard about it and commented when asked by an E! News reporter.
Gosling's first brush with fame was when he joined the Disney Channel's Mickey Mouse Club from the ages of 13 to 15. After a stint on the TV show Hercules, he moved onto movies with Murder by Numbers with past love Sandra Bullock and then The Notebook, with another ex of his -- Rachel McAdams. His directorial debut How to Catch a Monster starring Saoirse Ronan will be out in June.
