Kim Kardashian could earn $5 million from divorce. What a weird job.

Why Did the Paycheck Fairness Act Get Voted Down?

In the continuing saga of the world's worst wedding, mama bear Kris Jenner has gone on the Today Show to set the record straight. "It saddens me to think that one of the rumors is that we've sold the television rights for millions of dollars," she said this morning, adding that the rumor the family earned close to $18 million off the event is "absolutely false."

Okay, but what about the divorce? We're talking about a family who pocketed $300,000 for Kourtney's pregnancy announcement and $300,000 for Khloe's wedding photos. There has to be some profit off the biggest divorce news in recent tabloid history.

"I think they could earn about $5 million dollars off the divorce," speculates Jo Piazza, author of the new book Celebrity, Inc.: How Famous People Make Money. "Kim can sell her first interview for about $500,000 and subsequent interviews along other divorces narratives for less, but still in the $25,000 ballpark range. These would include things like my 'first date post divorce' or my personal favorite, the 'I'm having a baby alone' narrative."

The split will also make her price shoot up just by leaving the house. "She already makes $100,000 for an appearance," says Piazza. "That will likely double as clubs clamor to have her out on the town as a single lady."

The divorce also opens up a wealth of endorsement offers from dating sites, says Piazza. "Spencer and Heidi did this on Twitter when they were going through their faux divorce. Ad.ly negotiated their deal for them to each rep different dating web sites on the social media network."

Kim and Kris are, at least by tabloid standards, way more legit than Speidi, so expect some bigger offers that tie in Kim's talents for tweeting. "Kim already makes $10,000 a tweet," says Piazza. "A very specific deal like this could also more than double her tweeting price."

Tweeting prices? Selling your divorce to dating sites? It's going to be really hard to explain all this to aliens when they land.
