Lana Del Rey Has Slept with “A Lot of Guys” in the Music Industry

Lana del Rey. A mysterious creature if ever there was one. Oh, sure, there's talk of Fordham and someone named "Lizzie Grant," but do you really believe all those old wives' tales? Isn't it far more likely that she simply arrived one day, borne out of the murmuring sea on a clam shell or something? However she got here, we know she didn't sleep her way to the top. Though she did sleep with a lot of people in the music industry.

Before you get upset, that is not us salaciously inferring anything. She straight-up says it in a new interview with Complex magazine about her new album. Specifically, when talking about her song "F--ked My Way to the Top," del Rey says, "You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying." Aha! So you see? She freely admits that she has made the rounds in music town, but that that is not how she got famous.
Which leaves us with two questions. One, the ancient and forever question: Who is Lana del Rey? Actually it's a three-part question: Who is Lana del Rey, where did she come from, and how did she get where she is today? That we might be asking until the sun has burned out and all that remains is a cold, stony little artifact of a planet hanging dimly in space.
The second question is, one hopes, more answerable: Who the heck did Lana del Rey sleep with in the music industry? I mean, let's get the obvious guess out of the way right away. Probably Lindsey Buckingham. You don't cultivate the persona that Lana del Rey has cultivated without taking a spin with Lindsey Buckingham at some point. Not these days, not ever.

Who else? Maybe Stevie Nicks. That's entirely possible. I know she said "guys," but she might have meant that broadly. I think it's safe to say that she might have had a regretted make-out with Dave Grohl at some point. Diane Warren? Just for the story? Maybe she let Tony Bennett get a little grope in, politely smiling as he said "Hatchi matchi!" or something. Sure, there could be some label executives whom we've never heard of. Oh, do you think maybe some sort of French affair with Jay and Bey? Or is that not her style? Who knows what her style is!
We just don't know Lana del Rey. She says she slept with a lot of people, but we have no way of guessing who those people might be. Lionel Richie? Jimmy Iovine? Amy Grant?? It could be anyone and no one. That is the mystery of Lana del Rey, and the great lament. Even when she tells us something, it just creates an infinity of new questions.
