'LoveTown, USA': Oprah Experiments with Love in a New Reality Show

Reality television has turned dating into a truly trashy affair. Singles who are "looking for love" on these programs are often just looking to ignite their 15 minutes of fame, feigning vulnerability and faking romance just for some camera time; it's enough to make you want to turn off the TV for good.

But wait - don't grab the remote just yet.

On August 19, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) will debut LoveTown, USA, a program documenting a 30-day social experiment on love in one small Georgia community.

Here's the gist: acclaimed matchmakers Paul Carrick Brunson and Kailen Rosenberg travel to Kingsland, Georgia to build love in the town. This means mending broken friendships, helping singles find true love and inspiring feelings of kindness, forgiveness and appreciation throughout the community - no rose ceremonies needed.

Of course, it's not all rainbows and butterflies in Kingsland. Between revamping the image of a seemingly misunderstood ladies man, encouraging shy women to put themselves out there and mending trysts between broken families and business partners, the matchmakers have their work cut out for them. But, in true small-town fashion, they enlist everyone's help, from the mayor to grade school students, all for the purpose of inspiring love in the community.

Best of all, the show is authentic. "Keep in mind, there was no artificial drama 'produced' in this series," says host and matchmaker Paul Carrick Brunson. "Everything you see organically happened. There was no script. We simply turned the cameras on in the morning and documented the process."

No scripted reality, no voting off ceremonies, no false, emotional ploys for camera time. LoveTown, USA only promises authentic relationships and struggles being captured on camera. What a breath of fresh air!

"Moreover, everyone in the show undergoes a transformation," says Brunson. "They show that by being the love, we create love."
