Now that I'm skinny, my husband treats me better than ever. Is he being shallow?

Q: I lost 25 pounds and my husband is treating me better than ever, which makes me worry that his affection is based on my looks. Am I being oversensitive?

It's natural to wonder why he wasn't behaving like this before, but your appearance probably isn't the only thing he's responding to-he may admire your effort to get healthy, or perhaps he recognizes your renewed confidence. To allay your fears, tell him you appreciate the attention, but explain that it makes you insecure because it feels contingent on your weight. Chances are, he'll remind you of all the other reasons he loves you. And plan to do some of your favorite things together (such as traveling or hiking) to reassure yourself that there's more to your relationship than the way you look.
