Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom and Finn
After announcing their separation last week, Broadway's Romeo Orlando Bloom and World's Second Highest-Paid Model Miranda Kerr seem to have been engaged in the friendliest split known to celebrity-kind. The day after they released a joint statement announcing their separation, they were photographed walking arm-in-arm in New York with two-year-old son Flynn (looking, as ever, like the platonic form of Beautiful Family), even parting ways with a casual goodbye kiss-on-the-cheek. Then they went on another family jaunt on Monday (pictured to the right), with Flynn toting a trick-or-treating bucket. And save for a confounding report concerning Kerr's friendship with Justin Bieber, there hasn't been much in the way of speculation about third parties or other potential causes of the split, also quite rare in the rumor-mongering tabloid culture.
And now Bloom has spoken out about the split in the most polite of fashions, telling Katie Couric, in an interview which will air later today, that the love between the pair remains intact.
"We love each other. We're a family. We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives," he said. "There's no question that for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn."
He went on: "Life sometimes doesn't work out exactly as we plan or hope for. But we're adults, I'm 36 and now she's 30. We're professionals. We love and care about each other. Most of all, we love our son."
. . . And then Miranda jumped out from the audience and embraced Orlando and cooed, "Orly, let's give this another a shot!" And Katie gasped and dropped her mug of green tea, which broke into a thousand pieces on the ground. And Orlando swept Miranda up in his . . . Ahh, sorry, none of that happened; we got carried away. But, oh, if only it had.
