The Person You Marry May Have Similar DNA (Anyone Else a Little Creeped Out?)

Do opposites attract? Not really, according to a new report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, which indicates that people tend to settle down with spouses whose DNA profiles are similar to their own. Now, genetics aren't the only linking characteristic -- education level is a stronger influence, and folks also tend to date within the lines when it comes to social class, race and body weight.

But let's think about this for a sec -- isn't it also likely that most of us are more likely to meet similar people due to our communities and surroundings? Not only that, the report analyzed data from 825 people who were also all white Americans.

So, we can't say we're all THAT surprised at the data. How would inter-racial couples fit into the mix? However, researchers are still pretty stoked about the study results because they throw into question the idea that genes and evolution mix randomly. Let's see where this research leads us!
