Single Persons Guide on "How To" Have a Happy Valentine's Day

Recently, I came across some social networking posts that allowed me to brainstorm thoughts and ideas for this article. A couple of people wrote the following as their Face Book or Twitter updates: What should a "single" person do on Valentine's Day? My immediate response was be "happy". Being "single" is okay on Valentine's Day. Not only is it okay, it's a wonderful time to treat yourself to something special or embrace some alone time.

Alone Time Ideas
Go for a massage
. Massages are extremely relaxing and calming. Take some time out of your busy schedule and schedule a massage or facial for yourself. It does not have to be exactly on Valentine's Day, as this is an extremely busy time for massage places, but don't forget to schedule an appointment for yourself during Valentine's week. Just think, you will be pampered for one full hour and will leave completely peaceful, thankful, and relaxed.

Buy "yourself" a gift.
Chocolate, flowers, or jewelry? My personal favorite happens to be chocolate. Treat yourself to a small present or treat. It is nice to have a companion but at the same time you must know and understand how to love yourself and be happy for all of your special traits and talents. You deserve to splurge or spoil yourself once in awhile. You truly know what you want, so go out and buy it for yourself.

Exercise.
Valentine's Day may be a special holiday or a Hallmark holiday, however, it's not a bank holiday or a religious holiday, the local gym isn't closed. Valentine's Day is like any other day of the week. Take care of yourself and your body, get in shape. Exercise is good for your heart, and you may bump into another single individual at the gym. When you feel good you look good.

Family & Friend Ideas
Single friends?
Gather all your single friends and family members and host a small Valentine's Day dinner or dessert get-together. You don't have to go out of your way and have a big party. Have your friends or relatives bring their favorite dish, appetizer, or dessert. You can even head to the movies after dinner.

Have children? Valentine's Day isn't reserved for couples or lovers. Children make the best Valentine's Day date or company. Show them that they mean the world to you by making them a special favorite dinner or treat for Valentine's Day. Take the day or evening to bond with them and show them how much they are loved and needed in your life. They also make the best Valentine's Day projects at school and feel special if you include them in a baking activity.

Be Smart
Be smart. Regardless of what you decide to do, do it with happiness and be positive. Don't look for Mr. or Mrs. Right to come along the week before Valentine's Day. Better yourself as a person, dive into your likes and interests. Become involved in things you love to do. Mr. or Mrs. Right will come along when you least expect it. You don't need to be with just anyone on Valentine's Day to make you feel special. You are already special, learn how to embrace it within yourself so that you are ready to share it with someone in the future, when you decide to.
