Does this seem weird to anyone else? Rodney King, the man who was viciously beaten by Los Angeles police in 1991, is engaged to juror number five from his famous court case.

King, 44, recently proposed to Cynthia Kelley, who pushed to award King a $3.8 million payout in a civil case against the city of Los Angeles .

The duo reports that their romance blossomed as soon as the controversial civil trial ended, "Our first date was the next day after the trial when Rodney's lawyer and Rodney met me in a local pizzeria in Newport Beach ," Kelley told RadarOnline. At the time, King and Kelley were both married to other people, but have reportedly been involved off and on ever since.

Nineteen years later, the couple, now divorced from their previous marriages, is ready to walk down the aisle again.

"She is a godsend, a blessing in my life," King told RadarOnline. "I don't know what I would have done without her in my life... I can't wait to make her my wife!"

Since his settlement, King has faced challenges in his personal life that led to an appearance on VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. The couple reportedly broke up during his time on the show and reunited shortly after, when King telephoned Cynthia with hopes of rekindling their romance.

No wrong-doing has been reported, though the situation seems a bit strange to us.
