Warren Beatty allegedly had 13,000 sexual conquests? HOW?!

In his new book "Star: How Warren Beatty Seduced America," writer Peter Biskind estimates that Beatty, a notorious former playboy, slept with 12,775 women over the years and that this number does not include "daytime quickies, drive-bys, casual gropings, stolen kisses and so on." Biskind says he based these findings on "simple arithmetic," but we're not so sure.

According to Biskind, the actor lost his virginity at age 20 and he married actress Annette Bening 18 years ago when he was 55. We're no mathematicians, but essentially this 12,775 number means Beatty had to sleep with a new woman a day every day for 35 years.

Really? So the man was never sick, tired, monogamous, gassy, flaccid, post-Indian-food, or just simply not in the mood for more than three decades? Frankly, we don't buy it. If nothing else, we'd bet our whole (admittedly crappy) savings he couldn't get it up at least a few of those days, at least in his 40s.

Perhaps the larger question is, even if this is possibly true, why do we glorify sexual gluttony like this? (Take, for example, basketball player Wilt Chamberlain, who's probably better known at this point for claiming he bedded 20,000 women than for his record-breaking sports career.) It's kind of gross, it indicates serious intimacy and ego problems, and it seems less a badge of honor than something that's really lonely-sounding, if not, from a safety perspective, just plain stupid.

On Sunday, through a statement from his attorney, Beatty gave a blanket denial of the book's claims, explaining "Star: How Warren Beatty Seduced America," contains "many false assertions."

Beatty's more famous (on-record) conquests include Jane Fonda, Joan Collins, Julie Christie, Diane Keaton, Fran Drescher, Janice Dickinson, and Madonna.
