This Whole Saga Has Made Us Love George Clooney Even More

As if he hadn't already won us over with his years of humanitarian work, and yes, his smashing good looks, George Clooney has proven yet again that he's one classy guy. After all, every woman deserves a man who's willing to stand up for her family.

Earlier this week, The Daily Mail reported that Amal Alamuddin's mother opposed her daughter's marriage to the actor on religious grounds. Clooney reacted by issuing a statement in USA Today, calling out The Daily Mail for printing information he insisted was false.

"The irresponsibility, in this day and age, to exploit religious differences where none exist, is at the very least negligent and more appropriately dangerous," he wrote.

The Daily Mail removed the story and printed an apology in which the newspaper held that its story was not fabricated, but that its source proved unreliable. They also promised to further investigate the matter.

Clooney, however, wasn't having it. This morning, he took to the pages of USA Today once again. "There is one constant when a person or company is caught doing something wrong," he wrote. "The coverup is always worse." After picking apart The Daily Mail for maintaining that its story "was not a fabrication," Clooney concludes, "The Mail knew the story in question was false and printed it anyway."

The actor could have ignored the initial article about his future family, threatened to sue, or spoke scathingly. Instead, he chose a measured, intelligent response. Amal, you're one lucky woman.
