The World's Most Extravagant Marriage Proposal, Complete with 25-Carat Diamond

Getty ImagesGetty Images While perusing the annual Neiman Marcus Christmas Book (which I'd love to call a holiday book, but I digress) I always check out the totally over-the-top "fantasy gifts" section. These out-of-this-world gifts are not ones we actually expect will be purchased--after all, we don't know anyone who even could purchase most of them--just admired.

The Forevermark Ultimate Diamond Experience, for example. If money were no object (c'mon, let's just pretend!) this would be one heck of a way to pop the question.

It all starts with a 25-carat rough Forevermark diamond. As in, you own that. You travel to the De Beers headquarters in London to learn all about your rock, name it (because giant diamonds have their own names, for real), and meet the actual guy who's going to cut it and polish it into the perfect round or cushion.

After a private tour and dinner with De Beers CEO Philippe Mellier and Forevermark CEO Stephen Lussier, you'll head to the coast of Namibia (that's where the diamond was discovered, deep under the ocean--pretty cool). You'll take a trip to the local diamond sorting houses to learn about Forevermark's responsible sourcing so you can feel good about giving this giant rock a home.

Then, it's back to the United States, where you'll meet with NYC jewelry designer Maria Canale and design a custom ring setting for your new 25-carat conversation piece. You know, so that you can wear it to the gym and the grocery store. To give you some context, Kim Kardashian's monster three-stone ring from Kris Humphries reportedly clocked in around 20 carats total, so you'd even surpass that!

The trip includes first-class flights for two, luxury accommodations at some of the best hotels in every pit-stop city, like Claridges in London and the Surrey in New York, some very high-end meals, and (of course) that ring.

The grand total? $1,850,000. Yep. Never gonna happen. But it's fun to think about, right?

Not that it offsets the cost, but Neiman Marcus will donate $10,000 to the Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation if anyone purchases this outrageous gift, so that's certainly a nice bonus for the prince/oil baron/media mogul who might buy it.

OK, so I know none of us would actually want a ring that big (well, maybe some of us!), but did anyone find this as fun to fantasize about as I did?
