Low-calorie ways to add capsaicin to your diet

There have been studies done in the past that proved that capsaicin was an excellent metabolism booster. However, more recent studies have shown that spicy foods can actually cause fat to destroy itself. Unfortunately, when many people think about adding spicy foods to their diet, all they can think of is buffalo wings and other unhealthy foods. Thankfully, there are a number of ways you can add capsaicin to your diet without loading up on calories. This means you can destroy all that fat without worrying about the additional fat you're adding to your body.

Hot Sauce

Whether you like a little heat or scorching levels of insanity, hot sauce is one of the best ways you can add capsaicin to your diet. Many brands of hot sauce have 0 calories per serving. Personally, I love to add hot sauce to everything from chili to sandwiches. Best of all, you can add as little or as much as you like. Just remember that too much hot sauce can be dangerous to your stomach.

Crushed Red Pepper Flakes or Cayenne

If you love creating your own spice mixes or just like to add a bit of heat to your prepared meals, both of these spices are a great way to add capsaicin to your diet. Crushed red pepper flakes are a great way to add spice to pasta sauces without having to spice up the entire pot of sauce. This spice is also perfect for pizza. Adding red pepper flakes to your food can ensure you eat slower and get full faster. As for cayenne, it can be added to homemade taco or chili seasoning, barbecue rubs or even homemade cocoa mix.

Fresh Hot Peppers

One fresh jalapeno contains over 10,000 mcg of capsaicin. Jalapenos make the perfect addition to everything from pizza to black beans. If you like spicier foods, just remember that the hotter the pepper, the most capsaicin it has. This means you can destroy all that icky fat with everything from habaneros to ghost peppers. Even pickled peppers have a good amount of capsaicin and taste great on sandwiches and even make the perfect addition to scrambled eggs.

Salsa

Last, but not least, hot salsa is a great way to spice up your diet. Salsa tastes great on top of grilled chicken, but can also be added to breakfast burritos and tossed with pasta. If you want the best flavor, try making your own salsa and playing around with the different types of hot peppers you use.
