Fall makeup trends to update your look

It's not just the leaves that switch up their look come fall. On today's episode of Real-Life Makeover, makeup pro, Julie Murray, is showing one mom how to rock our favorite fall colors.

NUDE FACE, BOLD LIPS

"I'm a firm believer that if you're going to have a dramatic eye, keep your lips neutral, and vice versa," says Julie. Otherwise, you run the risk of makeup overload. For fall, try pairing a neutral eye, with a rich, luxurious color on your lips, like a deep burgundy.

PROTECT AND PERFECT SKIN
Just because you're not hanging at the beach doesn't mean you get a free pass on skin protection. Always remember to prime your skin with some SPF. "It's important when you're choosing your foundation color that you match to your natural skin tones," says Julie. Even out your skin with a foundation that makes your skin look radiant and provides a bit of sun protection, to boot.

CHOOSE YOUR COLORS FROM NATURE

When I asked Julie about the season's hottest makeup colors, she suggested we just look outside. "Think about the leaves turning: beautiful plums, oranges, and golds." Line your eyes with a dark plum shade to make green eyes pop and highlight cheekbones with a soft pink. But it's a beauty myth to think you have to go suddenly dark in fall. Think instead of a "gradual, getting darker throughout the seasons," says Julie.

FULL BROWS

More Brooke Shields than Jean Harlow, this season's trend is toward full brows with a defined arch. Fill in your brows with a shadow or pencil that matches your brow color to beautifully frame your face.

SMART SHOPPING
New makeup doesn't have to be expensive, and shopping smart now can save you bigger money down the line. "If we shop smart now," advises Julie, "we can save money for the holidays and other things we want to spend our money on."
