Valentine's Day crafts any kid can do!

Valentine's Day can be such a wonderful holiday for kids -- and a great excuse to make some crafts to give as gifts to classmates or parents.

With just a little bit of time and a few simple supplies, kids can have a great time creating (with parental supervision of course). To prepare, cover a table with kraft paper (so clean up is a cinch) and gather your supplies.

The key to doing any craft project with kids is having fun together. Let them take the lead and help them build their confidence.

Supplies for the flower: tissue paper, hole punch, 3" inch scallop paper punch and lollipops.

Using the 3" scallop punch, punch out 20 layers of the scallops for each lollipop. Punch a hole in the middle of your layers. Pop your lollipop through. You may want to trim the bottom of the wrapper off. Crinkle up the petals.

Supplies for the "bee" and leaf: Green and white cardstock, heart punch, googly eyes, crafters glue, florist's wire, a saucer (for tracing a leaf), pom poms. Letter stickers for "b mine." The edge of the saucer makes a good "leaf."

Use the saucer to trace the sides of the leaf. Punch a hole in it and add stickers.

To make the "bee," punch a heart out of white cardstock. Snip off the top and cut it in half to make wings. Cut two small pieces of wire, about 3 inches and curl around pencil to make antennae. Stick them into pom pom. Glue the googly eyes and wings on. Secure the bee to the leaf with glue.

We Love You Frame
Rust-oleum makes a chalbboard latex paint that can be tinted in a dozen different shades. Garnet was used for this "I Love You" chalkboard frame project. This is a good gift the "kids" can make to give Dad for Valentine's Day *wink wink*.

Supplies: wooden frame from Michaels ($1), quick grip glue, chalk ink or white chalk, Rust-olem chalkboard paint, conversation hearts candy and a photo to put in the frame. Paint the frame red. It will probably take two coats.

Have the kids write their names with a chalk ink pen (available at Michael's). I've found that when I am writing letters the chalk ink is easier to use then regular chalk.

Place the conversation hearts to see where you want to place them and how you like the colors to go together. Write "We heart You" at the top.

Voila'… a Valentine keepsake to treasure. What craft projects do your kids like to do for Valentine's Day? Let us know in the comments!
