Winter Crafts for Kids

The holidays are over, which means that not only are you exhausted from all of the holiday shopping, entertaining and cooking, but your kids seem to exude more energy with the passing of each winter day. If you're looking for a few ways to calm the wiggles (who isnt?!) then look no further than these engaging arts and crafts projects that will keep your perpetually energetic kiddos indoors and entertained. Happy crafting!

1. Cork Snake
Instead of tossing all of those corks from the bottles of wine you enjoyed over the holidays, save them up and spend the afternoon making this simple and oh-so-cute cork snake. This craft only required four items and the result will provide hours of entertainment for your little one.

2. Homemade Bubbles
Who doesn't love bubbles? We've got a great homemade recipe for bubbles that will surely delight kids of all ages. If you don't have a bubble wand handy then get creative and use regular household items such as a paper towel tube, plastic ring from a six pack of soda, or wire hangers.

3. Make a Dishtowel Apron
Let your little sous chef feel even more involved in the kitchen and make him or her a dishtowel apron. This fun and simple craft can be made in only four steps and will give your little chef another reason to want to help you out in the kitchen.

4. Support Your Team With a Sports Craft
With the NBA lockout finally over and the end of the regular NFL season in sight, we think that this is the perfect time to show your ra-ra-ra support for your hometown team by making this 'go team' sports craft. Display it on your mantel, kitchen table, or in front of the TV when rooting on your favorite team.

5. Fight the Rainy Day Blues
Don't let a rainy or gloomy winter day damper your spirits. Celebrate winter with this rainy day craft that you can proudly display on your refrigerator afterwards.

From one parent to another, share the love in the comment section below and let us know what arts and craft projects you'll be doing this winter break.
