If you're a little late on making a New Year's resolution, no worries. Here are seven easy things you can do this year to be a little healthier and happier. See if you can do one--or all seven!

1. Three words: Let it go. (It will mean a different thing to every woman, but we all have something toxic (a person, a job, a worry) that we need to say goodbye to--right now.)

2. Buy a new fitness DVD. I love fitness DVDs, because you can spend $9.99 or $14.99 and get some brand new exercise inspiration. Need some ideas? Here's a Vitamin G reader fave to try, and some yoga DVDs you might like, too.

3. Go shopping--for house plants. I tend to think houseplants are a little tacky looking, but I swallowed my pride and bought four this week because the research about their air-purifying qualities is really convincing. P.S. Indoor air is way more polluted than outdoor air, and a humble little houseplant can help!

4. Swap your afternoon cup of coffee for tea instead (bonus points if it's herbal): I started doing this, and guys--you wouldn't believe how much better I feel. (I really like the tea lattes from Starbucks--I get them with zero sweeteners and with soy milk.)

5. Get a pill box. Yeah, I know, totally grandmotherly, but it's the only way I can remember to take my vitamin D and calcium supplement--along with the prescription pill I'm supposed to take everyday. Without my trusty little pillbox, I'd be lost--and less healthy. I tell everyone I love to get one. (I even bought my husband one for Christmas, among other gifts--how nuts is that?!)

6. Go to the library and check out a bunch of healthy cookbooks. Glamour contributor Laurie Sandell wrote a brilliant, and so insightful and teaching, essay for Real Simple this month about the power of food in our lives (you guys have to read it!). And the little message from her therapist, as she wrote about in the piece, went like this: "Food is love." So true! In short, Laurie says that learning to cook--and being comfortable with food--improved her happiness in so many ways. P.S. Here's a cookbook I'm obsessed with right now!

7. Go for a run. I know, I know--you hate running. But, gals, I want to encourage you to rethink the sport. First, it's free. Second, it's the most efficient way to squeeze in a workout (other than your elliptical at home, I guess)--you just step out your door and bam, calories begin to burn. But here's the biggie: A recent study--a major one at that--found that running isn't as hard on your body and joints as previously thought. Even more: It might even be good for your joints! Your little health challenge: Try to go on five solid 30-minute jogs in the next 2 weeks. (It's OK if you get winded and have to alternate between running and walking.) I bet that by the fifth time out, you will start to become a teensy bit hooked (I am!).

A big Friday hug to you--here's to continuing our health journey in 2010!

What other things would you add to this list? I want to know! I'm always so inspired by you guys! xo
