We know you don't need to be told this: With kids, come messes. But that doesn't mean they can't be part of the cleanup, too. We found five great, chemical-free tools that are easy enough for kids to use -- and they might even have a little fun while they're at it.

1. Fred & Friends Dust Bunny ($15, fredandfriends.com): Kids respond to specific instructions better than large tasks. For instance, instead of saying "clean your room," hand them this microfiber mitt and ask them to dust their shelves instead. You can toss it in the washer for quick and easy cleaning. Bonus: It's adorable.

2. Casabella Microfiber Stainless Steel Cloth ($10, casbella.com): Your kids will feel a sense of accomplishment wiping away smudgy fingerprints on appliances with this lint-free washable cloth. It cleans and brightens stainless steel, chrome and aluminum, and won't scratch the finishes. Use it wet or dry, and when it's ready to be cleaned, simply toss it in the washing machine on the delicate cycle and allow it to air dry.

3. Swiffer Sweeper ($11, swiffer.com): This is an oldie, but goodie -- and since the handle can easily be adjusted for shorter chore-doers, it's perfect to pass on to your kids. Use it with the Swiffer Sweeper dry cloths to get rid of dirt and dust on hard floors in your home.

4. Brillo Erase & Wipe ($2.50, brillo.com): This is a new chemical-free, two-in-one cleaning tool (we gave it the Good Housekeeping Seal!). One side is an eraser and the other, a sponge. Use it to erase marks from walls, countertops and windows, and have your children use it to clean plastic surfaces like their kid-size chairs and tables. We tried it on lipstick, crayon and pencil marks, and loved the results.

It works well in small spaces and picks up spilled crumbs on tabletops easily. Plus, it lays flat for easy storage, and comes in fun colors like plum and lime.
