5 Things to Do with Outgrown Baby Clothes

5 things to do with outgrown baby clothes

As I was doing laundry this week, I noticed that many of my baby boy's clothes are several sizes too small.

He is nearly two years old, wearing a size 24 months or 2T, and yet, I have clothes in his drawers that are for a 12-month-old! I started setting his outgrown baby clothes aside to make room for new clothes. I will most likely donate his clothes, but there are plenty of other things you can do with your baby's outgrown clothes.

1. Donate
Many organizations accept donated baby clothes in good condition. Check your local homeless and women's shelters, particularly, as they can always use clothes for residents.

2. Sell them
Small boutiques or consignment stores often buy clothes to resell. You won't get as much as you paid for, but you'll be able to get a few dollars to add to your baby's piggy bank. If there are no consignment shops in your area, or you prefer to sell online, selling on eBay might work for you. Lots of parents purchase baby clothes from eBay since they can usually find unique items.

3. Create a memory quilt or other keepsake
Baby's outgrown clothes can make for wonderful keepsake items, with a memory quilt being a favorite for many parents.

4. Save for younger siblings
If you plan on having more children, you can always save outgrown baby clothes for future baby brothers or sisters. Of course, this requires a bit of storage space.

5. Use them as doll clothes
I remember playing dress up with my dolls and using my own baby clothes that my mother had saved for me to play with. Why not give baby's outgrown clothes to older kids for dressing their dolls or stuffed animals?
