All the LITTLE Single Ladies: Should 7-Year-Olds EVER Be Allowed To 'Shake It' On Stage?

By Marianne Mancusi Beach, GALTime.com Staff

I saw a video on You Tube that made me shiver. Okay, there's no doubt these girls are talented dancers and I don't want to dismiss their hard work and skill. But, come on! What are they, seven years old? And here they are, gyrating on the dance floor, dressed in provocative outfits, shaking stuff they don't even have yet in front of an audience.

Sure, at the "World of Dance" (billed as "the largest U.S. Urban Dance Competition") they're among their peers--and let's face it, probably having the time of their lives. But now this video has found its way onto the Internet for anyone to watch. Would you want a stranger sitting home alone, viewing your young daughter shaking her booty like that? Yeah. Yikes.

Also, I don't want to be all jumping on the "kids grow up too fast" bandwagon, but what's wrong with teaching kids age-appropriate dances and putting them in age-appropriate costumes? They can grow up to be Britney Spears soon enough. Let them have tutus and tiaras for a few years before rushing them into stripper-inspired gear.

The video was removed from You Tube due to the controversy, but you can see part of the video along with the parents' reactions in an ABC story: CLICK HERE TO WATCH THE VIDEO.

What do you think? Is this just kids having fun or is it a little too much too soon?
