If you live in a 550 square foot studio apartment, you're not deciding what room to turn into anursery, you're deciding if you really need a kitchen. New parents Ashley and Aron had this dilemma as they awaited the birth of their baby Hudson in the confines of their one-room New York City micro-apartment.

That's when creativity kicked in. First they converted Aron's closet, all six square feet of it, into Hudson's makeshift room. Next they found a mini-crib, perfect for tiny spaces. The Bloom Alma Urban Crib is about the size of a large basinet, but with the frame and bars of a crib. It can comfortably accommodate a child up to one years old and fits neatly into any made-over closet area. (The family plans to move to a bigger space by Hudson's first birthday.)

To add a little magic to the former storage space, they papered the wall behind the crib with a white and green animal farm pattern. A bright yellow mobile gave the space a burst of color, without overwhelming the tiny confines.

As for Aron's former closet inhabitants, they're now living a storage rental unit far from the studio apartment. (For more on Ashley and Aron's nursery decorating journey, check out their blog, Hither and Thither)

Parents are master problem-solvers. That's no more evident than in the creative touches of their children'snurseries. From low-cost DIY cribs to space-saving furniture and personalized wall decals, it takes a mother, not a professional decorator, to make a baby's first sleeping area come alive.

With that in mind, we want to see your nurseries. Share photos of your baby's room and the elements you're most proud of by uploading images to Shine's "cool nurseries ideas" Flickr pool. Feel free to add any tips or details about your decorating process.
