When did YOUR baby start sleeping through the night?

Waking up in the middle of the night to tend to a crying baby is both a normal part of parenting and one that most new parents can't wait to get past. As much as we love our babies, it's very hard to function when you're sleep-deprived! You may receive lots of advice for getting your baby to sleep through the night, but the fact of the matter is that every baby is different. You'll find that a) sleeping through the night can mean different things to different parents, and b) the age your baby starts sleeping through the night may differ from your friend's baby. Here are a few real examples from moms on when their babies started sleeping through the night. Can you relate?

"Both of my girls were sleeping through the night at a few months old, but they were still in our room and we woke them when we were going to bed. So at 5 1/2 months we moved them to their cribs and we never looked back. They were sleeping 8 hours at that point, 12 hours by the time they were 7-8 months old. (I was blessed with good sleepers!)"

"[Don't] hate me: she was 3 months old (if all night means 5 straight hours). And I moved her to her own room. Her doctor told me not to let her, that it meant she was going hungry. I figured that hunger is stronger than sleep, so I let her (and me) sleep. I lucked out."

"My first baby slept through the night at seven weeks and never looked back. My second baby also slept through the night at seven weeks. For a couple of days. And then she definitely looked back and has continued to waffle over whether or not she enjoys letting me sleep continuously for the last ten weeks."

"My three kids were sleeping through the night at 4 months…but I am a night owl so I quantified night to mean "midnight to 4 a.m. or 5 a.m." I would keep the babies up til midnight, do one last feeding, and then they would sleep. Soon each baby was sleeping from midnight to 6 a.m. Then I would give last feeding at 11 p.m. and work my way back. By 8 months all three were sleeping from 9 pm to 7 am."

"6 days [old] (11pm-7am), thanks to being on a schedule since birth."

"My daughter started sleeping through the night - from about 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. at four weeks old. I had been convinced for about a week that her dad's snoring in the bedroom was waking her, so I put her down in her crib in her bedroom one night at four weeks old. I was shocked when she slept until about 6 a.m., and she just kept doing it!"
