"It was the Easter of 1990. My older brother had to go to the mall for his Easter photo shoot. I, on the other hand, had a cold so my mother refused to take me out around tons of other children. Instead, she got a brilliant idea. She was going to have my aunt dress up in a bunny costume! She got me all dressed up and put me in a happy mood, while my aunt was waiting outside. My aunt hopped in through the front door, sat down on a chair, and patted her knees. My dad stood behind his beloved 38mm camera with a toy to make me smile. My mother carried me over to my aunt and sat me on her knee. Finally, the moment came, and I turned toward the bunny and... 'What the heck? That is not the Easter Bunny! That's... That's... A giant, white, rabid rat!' I looked to my parents for confirmation. My dad thought, 'This is it! She's going to laugh!' so he snapped the picture. He caught my knowing expression. I knew that this wasn't the Easter Bunny." -- Courtney Bates less

Why is it that a costumed Easter Bunny can elicit a more frightened response than Santa? He's hoppy, jovial, fuzzy, and, most importantly, the Easter Bunny brings chocolate; however, he strikes fear and anxiety in all of us that is comparable to a gremlin or Freddy Krueger. We asked Shine readers to share their best photos of a visit with the Easter Bunny. Beware: this bunny may haunt your dreams. -- Ali Swank
