EGOT Winner Robert Lopez and His Awesome Family: Please Adopt Us

Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez

EGOT: It's the grand slam of showbiz, and composer Robert Lopez hit the ball out of the park with his Oscar win for "Let it Go" from the movie "Frozen" to become the youngest member of the exclusive club. EGOT stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony-the biggest awards in the entertainment industry. Frozen also happened to nab a golden statuette for Best Animated Feature.

Only 12 people have won an EGOT, 15 if you count James Earl Jones, Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand, who (kind of) earned it by receiving non-competitive lifetime achievement awards from the Academy. Some other heavy hitters include Mel Brooks, Audrey Hepburn, and John Gielgud. Lopez also made history by being the first Filipino-American to win an Oscar and the person who earned the EGOT in the shortest time-ten years.

The stupendously talented Lopez, who just turned thirty-nine a week ago, co-wrote the song with his wife, lyricist Kristen Anderson-Lopez. He had previously won an Emmy for "The Wonder Pets," a Grammy for "The Book of Mormon," which he helped create with the with "South Park" mad geniuses Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and has earned three-count 'em, three-Tonys (one for "Avenue Q" and two for "The Book of Mormon"). In their charming (and well-rehearsed-guess they weren't all that surprised given "Let it Go's" phenomenal success) tag team acceptance speech, the couple ended by saying thanks to, "Our girls, Katie and Annie, this song is inspired by our love for you and the hope that you never let fear or shame keep you for celebrating the unique people that you are." Pass the tissues, please.

Before the event the tweeted a family group hug photo with the caption, "Our family pre-Oscars. So much joy!"

After receiving the award, Anderson-Lopez presented her husband with a very special EGOT-themed necklace, saying, "The girls and I made something for you, Bobby. Just in case this moment happened. We made it last week, it's made of pasta."

Lopez also honored his wife saying: "She has been in the background of all of my work-for every single show that she's not received credit for, she's been whispering in my ear the whole time. So, I'm glad that she is finally getting credit for being the amazing artist that I've always known that she is." In a 2003 profile in the New York Times, they said the puppet musical "Avenue Q" was partially inspired by the early years of their marriage, living in Queens, driving a 1989 Buick, and surviving on fast food. And the award for Cutest Couple Ever goes to the Bobby and Kristen Lopez!
