Five Reasons Moms Need an iPad

Moms' lives were forever changed when the iPhone hit the market three years ago. Seventy-five percent of LilSugar readers said they let their tots play with their device, and the variety of applications that do everything from entertain tots and organize mom to track lil ones' feeding schedules have made it mama's best friend. Since the January introduction of the iPad, tech-savvy mums have been drooling over the new gizmo's functionality, large screen, and long battery life. With the first iPads hitting stores this weekend, here are five reasons moms will want to add them to their arsenal.

  • Calendar - Keeping track of everyone in the family's activities is a full-time job. The iPad's large screen makes it easy to view upcoming events and move around appointments by simply touching the screen, making the traditional daily planner obsolete.

  • Photos - Keeping track of the family photos has never been easier, or prettier. The iPad's photo applications allow mamas to store, sort, and display their lil ones' pictures in intuitive ways. The apps' slideshow feature also beautifully displays the images for all to see.

  • Movies - Vacation bags just got a whole lot lighter. No need to pack a personal DVD player, computer, and gaming device with the iPad's 9.7-inch screen. Just download your tot's favorite movies and open up the device on your next flight. The large screen and unbelievably clear picture make an event out of viewing movies - and more than one person can watch them at the same time.

  • Books -Mama may love her Kindle, but that Amazon device doesn't have the capability to show images. The iPad will allow parents to download both the latest bestsellers for their own use and their wee one's favorite children's books.

  • Recipes - The iPad's portability means that mama's favorite recipes can all be located in one place and can be pulled up at any time. Chefs and their budding sous-chefs can either download their favorite recipe apps to search for new dishes, or they can save their favorites on the device, creating a virtual cookbook that sits right on the counter.
