Five Ways that Teens are Changing their Sexual Habits

Lots of things are changing for this generation of teens including their texting habits, the amount of time they spend plugged in to technology, and now their SEXUAL behavior?

This just in. And, parents YES you should be in the know. There's nothing more embarrassing than being a clueless parent. So, sit down. Get a tight grip on your arm rests and read on.

1. The number of teens age 15-19 reporting that they have engaged in sexual intercourse continues to decline. NO KIDDING HERE! According to CDC survey data from 2006-2010, the percentage is just over 40%. This is still not a low number, but it is a decline.

2. Parents may also be happy to know that the gender gap in teen sex experience appears to be declining. Get this! This is because of a steep decline in the proportion of teenage boys engaging in sexual intercourse.

3. And proud parents -- teens are more likely to use condoms during their first sexual experience.

4. Does it all sound too good to be true? Maybe it is. The findings from the National Survey of Family Growth also found that sexually experienced teens both males and females reported an increased number of partners. YIKES!

5. And how about this? Teen girls were more likely to have had the their first sexual experience with someone other than a boyfriend -- perhaps with a friend with benefits?
