Guess what, Bettys? It's almost Mother's Day! True, it's a bit of a Hallmark holiday; but even so, we're looking forward to saluting our moms (and mother figures!) for everything they do for us this upcoming Sunday. In honor of the occasion, we've rounded up our 10 favorite celebrity moms and why we love them. From Jennifer Garner to Tina Fey, we think these ladies are the cat's pajamas! 1. Jennifer Garner
In case you haven't already noticed from the frequency with which I write about her, Jennifer Garner is by far my favorite celebrity mom. Why? Mostly because she doesn't really seem like a celebrity mom. She's just a mom, and she loves her kids and her family, and it so very, very apparent every time we see her or hear her talk about them. Awesome? Awesome.
2. Michelle Williams
Man. Has Michelle Williams been through a lot or what? Not long after splitting with Heath Ledger, she also found herself having to cope with his tragic death-and needing to help their young daughter cope with it as well. Matilda Rose is six years old now, though, and both mother and daughter seem to have come out more than well on the other side. Jason Segel is a lucky guy!
3. Tina Fey
How hilarious must it be to have funnylady and 30 Rock star Tina Fey as your mom? I just want to know what her bedtime stories are like. Seriously.
4. Michelle Obama
It's got to be tough to be any celebrity's child, but it's probably even tougher to be a member of the First Family. But Malia and Sasha seem to be exceptionally well-adjusted kids, for which Michelle (and Barack) deserve a pat on the back.
5. Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon's relationships have always been high profile, but she's managed to keep her kids first throughout everything-her life with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, their divorce, her second marriage, the works. She and Ryan also seem to have the co-parenting thing down pat, and hey, guess what? She's got a third child on the way with hubby Jim Toth! With this classy lady, the more, the merrier seems to be the rule. And how!
6. Halle Berry
Talk about going to bat for your kid: Halle Berry has recently been facing off with her ex, Gabriel Aubry, in an effort to protect daughter Nahla from a potentially abusive relationship. Though there's a lot of he-said/she-said going on, what is clear is that Halle is doing everything she can to keep her child safe. A-plus, mom!
7. Gwyneth Paltrow
I may not personally like Gwyneth Paltrow so much, but she does seem to be a pretty terrific mom, so I give her points for that. She keeps Apple and Moses as far out of the public eye as she can, and although I find GOOP a little tiresome, it's not a terrible worldview with which to raise kids. Good for you, Gwynnie.
8. Angelina Jolie
No celeb mom list would be complete without the inclusion of Angelina Jolie. While it's easy to get sick of hearing about Angie, Brad, and their perfect multicultural brood of six adorable children, here's what I respect the most about her: When Angelina first began the process to adopt her first child, Maddox, she was planning on doing it with then-husband Billy Bob Thornton. But when they split up… she didn't back out. She went ahead and adopted Maddox anyway-and clearly she found that motherhood agreed with her, leading to two more adoptions and three births. That's not something you do casually, and she and Brad have proven themselves to be great parents. We salute you, mother of six!
9. Maggie Gyllenhaal
Not unlike Michelle Williams, Maggie Gyllenhall and hubby Peter Sarsgaard have opted for a low-key family life in Brooklyn instead of a fast-paced one in LA. (fun fact: They live in my neighborhood. We voted at the same time during the 2008 Presidential Election. And they are very nice people.) Maggie has acknowledged that she is by no means the perfect mom; she is, however, a terrific example of a working mom, juggling both her family and her career with grace and panache.
10. Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker walks her and Matthew Broderick's 9-year-old son James Wilkie to school in Manhattan almost every day. And they always look so happy while they're walking together. We can't wait until twins Loretta and Tabitha are old enough to walk to school too, so we can see the whole brood trooping off down the street together!
