Is Kate Middleton Actually Pregnant This Time?

After months of rumors, a tabloid is reporting that Kate is definitely pregnant. Is it actually true this time? And why do we care so much, anyway?

Ever since the madness that was the Royal Wedding, speculation has been flying about when Prince William and Kate Middleton-sorry, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge-ah, who am I kidding? She'll always be Kate Middleton to us plebs-are going to start a family. Even though it's really none of our business, we're all eagerly anticipating the arrival of the next heir to the throne. It's become an especially hot issue over the past few weeks as well, since it was finally ruled that their first born will be eligible for the throne even if it's a girl. I'll admit that I'm still a little confused over the peanut paste incident-never having been pregnant, I can't speak to the whole "don't eat peanuts while pregnant or your kids will be allergic!" claim- but it seems that every little thing Kate does is being analyzed in such a way as to supposedly "prove" she's pregnant.

But now In Touch is reporting that Kate isn't just maybe pregnant-she's actually pregnant. In fact, according to them, she's six weeks along. Their source? A palace insider, who has apparently correctly revealed other royal secrets before, including where Kate and William honeymooned and what the queen gave to Kate as a wedding gift. The source told In Touch,"Since before they even got married, it's been made clear to William and Kate that having children should be their number-one priority." Apparently nurseries are being built (yes, plural-one in Nottingham Cottage, one in their home in Wales, and one in Kensington Palace), and Kate and Wills are already thinking about names. "They want something traditional," the source said, citing Edward, Philip, and Michael as likely choices for a boy and Alice or Rose for a girl.

Then again, this IS In Touch we're talking about. Tabloids tend to deal more with rumor than with proven fact, so "royal sources" aside, this might just be yet another "Kate is pregnant!" report that we should take with a very large grain of salt. ABC News also reported In Touch's claim that Kate is expecting; however, they also checked up with the palace, which is perhaps not unexpectedly denying the claim. "We would be the ones to make the announcement, not Hollywood," Kate and William's spokesman told ABC. "This is all complete speculation."

If Kate actually is pregnant, it's far too early for there to be an announcement about it, anyway. "She has to wait until that crucial 12-week scan," ABC News' royal correspondent, Kate Nicholl, said. So just relax, everyone. If it's true, the announcement will come in good time; and if she's not, it's not the end of the world. They've only been married for seven months, after all. There's still plenty of time to beget an heir. Or whatever it is the kids are calling it these days.
