Nashville Songwriter Receives Honorable Mention Award at Songwriter of the Year

Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest encouraging the art and discipline of songwriting. The primary focus is to honor great songwriters while helping them network with other professionals in the music industry. For over ten years, Song of the Year has continued to be a leader in offering songwriters great opportunities through the contest and by networking the top writers with music insiders. Songwriter's submissions are judged by a panel of music professionals. The preliminary- judging staff consists of individuals who have showed leadership in music related fields as well as notable songwriters. Songwriters who enter are at various levels and enter accordingly. This year Nashville songwriter Milliea McKinney, received The 'Honorable Mention' placement which shows that her song received extremely high scores and was found to be competitive with the other entered songs. Only the top writers receives this placement of honor.
Milliea, known for her contributions to the legends of country, published with Brandon Hills Music & Jandar Records. and the owner of Conscious Music Entertainment. A Talent Agency, that promotes positive artistry and music lyrics. CME, also mentors youth of the importance of music lyrics, and the impact music has on society especially our youth. McKinney says, that lyrics paint the picture, and influence our society. She also, states that today's youth are confused about music, and the lyrics permitted to filter in today's society sending off negative messages to our teens, which tell them it is okay to curse, express themselves graphically, and be violent. her company was designed to inform, educate, and serve society as a company stepping up to the plate to say enough is enough our youth need parental guidance, and strong role models, to give them back their youth, and the place to start is with music the universal language. A language we all use everyday for many occasions.Through her company Milliea, has two students under her wing doing rather well. Josie Passantino, of Bartlett Illinois, who was inspired to be a songwriter, and vocalist, and under the mentor-ship of McKinney, and Gloria Brown, who acts as her vocal coach, having a musical background has been working with Josie,, for a few months now. McKinney, taught Josie, the art of songwriting. Josie, debuts her song this Spring entitled Teenage Girl.
Lenore Luca of New Jersey, advocating for teens who are homeless, and those who struggle with bullying in their school. Lenore Luca, inspired to make a difference now known for her voice for those who struggle to use their own due to peer pressure. Lenore, visits schools, and talks about the power of self, and the need to be empowered not only to speak up for oneself but to also, speak up for those who are in need.
