Pregnant and Panicked? De-stress with These 7 Mindful Mantras

7 Mindful Mantras for Moms-to-be

With just 9 weeks to go in my pregnancy, the whole "I'm going to be a Mom!" reality has really started to kick in for me. When I'm not obsessively organizing the kitchen (again) or stocking up on onesies and diapers, sometimes that new mom reality hits me full force. It can be a little stressful during this home stretch as we scramble to get everything just-so for baby once he gets here. That's why it's important for me to slow down, relax and remember to breathe. Feeling stressed? Try repeating these these calming, mindful mantras for the mom-to-be.

1. I am whole, I am perfect, I am strong.
A mantra for any woman, this reminds me that my body was engineered to take on this momentous task of pregnancy and birth.

2. One more day closer to holding you.
When I start to feel like I've been pregnant forever, I remind myself that every day that passes is another day that brings me closer to meeting and holding my baby for the very first time.

3. My belly is a thing of beauty!
Sometimes I feel gorgeous and other times I just feel huge and wobbly. But you know what? My belly IS beautiful!

4. Breathe in: peace. Exhale: joy.
Close your eyes and inhale deeply through your nose. As you inhale, think the word "peace." As you exhale from your mouth, think the word "joy" and smile at the same time. Such an easy relaxation exercise and mood booster!

5. We'll get done what we can get done.
It's nearly impossible to organize EVERY drawer in the house and maybe the nursery will only be 95% done by the time baby arrives. It's okay if it's not all done, so I'm learning to be okay with doing the best we can in the time we have left.

6. Savor and enjoy what little time is left.
Feeling my baby move inside of me, watching my body grow and change, just being pregnant - it might feel like forever but it's really just a short time in my child's (and my) life. I try to remember to savor these special pregnancy moments I have left.

7. Motherhood, here I come!
Sometimes I just get bogged down with stress and anxiety but then I remember - this is all worth it. At the end of the day, I'm going to get to be a MOM - how cool is that?

Now is the time to get excited because my little one will be here before we know it!
