Reality TV Moms Dish on Realities of Motherhood

Most of us deal with being a mom behind closed doors, no one knowing what goes on unless we decide to spill it to our friends. Reality TV moms can't hide anything -- not even the dirty dishes. We applaud them for being so open with their family life and through them we've learned many things, even laughed and cried along with them.

We interviewed five of our favorite reality show moms -- Kris Jenner, Tori Spelling, Amy Roloff, Michelle Duggar, and Betty Hayes -- to celebrate them this Mother's Day and to also learn a little more.

Kris Jenner -- mom to six children plus four step-kids, star of E!'s Keeping Up with the Kardashians

The most important lesson motherhood has taught me is that God has given me a huge responsibility in raising children, that will ultimately be the most important job I will ever do in my entire life. It has taught me that there is no room to be selfish.... My job is to be there for them always, and teach them strength, support, kindness, honesty and unconditional love. Being a Mom has been the greatest gift and the biggest joy I will ever know.

When they were little they used to hug so tight I thought I would choke and now, we all tell each other we love each other maybe 20 times a day! We never hang up the phone or sign off of an email or text without saying "I love you." Also the pride I feel for my children when they accomplish something they are excited about, and to see the joy that lights up their face. Priceless. When my kids are happy I am happy! Kim once said something she wasn't aware of that really hurt my feelings and when I finally told her, she wrote me the most amazing letter of how much she loves me and how much I mean to her. I will cherish it forever.

Motherhood has taught me so much. It changes your whole perspective on life. You realize how unimportant the small things are in life. You come to grasp total patience and are given the blessing of an overall purpose. I see life differently now through their innocent and yearning to be nurtured and taught eyes.

The best part of being a mom is knowing that it's my smile that greets each new day for the. It's my embrace that gently rocks them to sleep each night. It's knowing that I'm completely responsible for these little beautiful beings that depend solely on our love and nurturing to guide them. That's solidified each morning when I come into Liam's room and from his crib a huge smile beams out at me and I hear "hi mama." That's all I need to get through my day!

Amy Roloff, mom of 4, star of TLC's Big People, Little World

I wouldn't trade anything to not share in the little and big moments I have been privileged to be with them. In a fleeting moment they are grown up on their own and I'll still be their mom.

[Motherhood has taught me] that I don't need to be so focused on what people think of me, how good or not good I am.... The most important thing is to be the best I can be as a mom because four kids are depending on me.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. I can say that the real proof is in the pudding. After work is done, you get only so many chances to mold and shape little lives. I pray the impact I had will come through later.

When kids were young, they made handmade cards [for Mother's Day]. I keep them in a keepsake box.

Motherhood has taught me how to be completely unselfish. Once you experience the unconditional love between a mother and child, your direction in life changes. You no longer come first and amazingly enough you don't mind. You don't mind giving them the last bit of whatever it is that you are enjoying and you don't mind standing in the sweltering sun praying for him to catch that fly ball because their happiness is your happiness....

My parents have a saying that I believe is the best advice for any new parent. "When they are at their least unlovable is when they most need to be loved."
