As if Kate Middleton wasn't under enough pressure and scrutiny already (yes, she wears the same coat sometimes, deal with it), a new report says that Great Britain is relying on the Royal Baby to single-handedly revive its flailing economy. That's a tall order for a fetus, don't we think? Are you guys trying to make Kate's hyperemesis gravidarum resurface?

The British economy has been flat of late, but according to The Associated Press, Britons are hoping that the Royal Heir will boost consumer confidence in the same way Kate's Reiss dresses and L.K. Bennett pumps have-by sending royal-stalkers out shopping.

"Kate has made a point of choosing brands that are both accessible and British - and retail experts expect that trend to continue with her royal offspring," the report notes. "New moms and dads will want not only the baby Windsor's onesie, but also the baby carriage, the rattle and the teddy bear-followed by the royal tricycle, the scooter and on."

Which is to say nothing of the commemorative Royal Baby plates, tea cups, and creepy Kate and Will masks being churned out for the "street parties" expected to break out after the birth next month. I'm all for a Royal Baby-themed street party, by the way. In fact, I'll be throwing one outside Cosmopolitan.com the minute I hear of the birth from my well-placed royal sources/Twitter. But it isn't a sweet blue-blooded baby's job to turn the British economy around. What everyone needs to realize is that Royal Baby will have better things to do with his/her time than boost consumer confidence-such as play with the Queen's pack of corgis, piggyback Uncle Harry, reject play dates with Kimye's daughter and learn all of his dad's names. "Repeat after me, William Arthur Philip Louis..."
