Shocking New Birthday Trend: Alligator Pool Parties

By: Sasha Emmons
How do you throw the kid's party of the year that everyone will be talking about? You hire a live alligator to swim with party guests, of course.

Yes, this is really a trend in Florida, where many of the country's alligators can be found. For $175, you can get a baby gator with its mouth taped shut to take a dip in your pool, with the kids. Alligator wrangler Bob Barrett came up with the idea when visits to his nearby alligator tourist attraction slowed down during the hot summer months.

"If you're 9, 10 or 11 years old, you've already had the 'jumparoo' house, the bounce house, you've had the pizza party, you've had the clown party," Barrett said in an interview with ABC News. "You get to have a pool party with a gator. It's a very popular party."

In addition to bragging right that they swam with an alligator, kids also come away from the party with a lesson in wild animal safety - a requirement for kids get to jump in.

Would you throw a gator pool party? Would you let your kid attend one?
