What Kids Think 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' Is About. Your Guilty Pleasures Explained, Finally.

We love the crazy things kids come up with, and a kid's point of view on pop culture can't be beat. After taking a look at promo pictures for a few popular TV shows and movies, my 8-year-old offered to weigh in on what she thought they were really all about. (You may look at the picture of the Kardashian sisters and think "Oh, season premiere," but a second grader sees something totally different!) We decided to contrast her point of view with those from the 7-year-old son of The Stir's Linda Sharp. Here's what the kids had to say:

About Keeping Up With the Kardashians:

7-year-old boy: "This is a show about three girls who go out and while they're shopping a battle breaks out and they have to use their shopping carts as weapons! But their hair gets in the way. They should have ponytails, that would help. The good thing is they're wearing black like ninjas."

8-year-old girl: "This is about some girls that get into a lot of trouble. They do a lot of bad decisions. They look sort of mean. Are they singing the 'Single Ladies' song? And the ones on the ends both look like Selena Gomez if she was mean."

About Twilight:

7-year-old boy: "This is a movie about a guy who's some kind of monster, the kind with weird eyes. Anyway, he has to rescue that girl but they're both really sad. I think they only like each other a little bit."

8-year-old girl: "I think it's about a vampire that no one knows that he is a vampire. And he falls in love with a girl. He's a vampire because he's pale and vampires don't usually get a lot of sun. Isn't this that movie that my older sister really likes?"

About Teen Mom:

7-year-old boy: "This is a show about a mom who makes books of photos about babies. What's that called? Scrappedbooking? Anyway, she put a picture of a baby in there, I guess. I guess that's the whole show? This seems lame."

8-year-old girl: "It's about a teenager that is taking care of some kids for her whole life and she doesn't really know how to take care of kids. I know it's about a teenager, because it says 'Teen' and 'Mom.' I think it's about messy stuff and something goes wrong with the house because she doesn't really take care of the kids properly."

About Here Comes Honey Boo Boo:

7-year-old boy: "This show is about a family where a girl makes everyone bored and they don't know what to do because they're all so bored. The family was happy before the girl was there. Now they just sit around and watch TV."

8-year-old girl: "This is a family that also gets into a lot of trouble. They're making those faces because they have nothing to do. Right before they came outside to sit down they had to get dressed into pretty shirts and they're bored and they don't want to take a picture, but the mom making them."

About Real Housewives of Beverley Hills:

7-year-old boy: "These ladies are rich ladies and all day they try to get more money but they don't want to share the money so they keep fighting with each other. But there's a happy ending because they share the money by splitting it up. But it's also not a great ending because they just buy dumb stuff with it."

8-year-old girl: "This is about ladies that argue a lot and get into fights. I don't know why, but they just look like they get into fights. I think they fight about who gets what makeup or dress, because they all want the same one."

About Fifty Shades of Grey:

7-year-old boy: "This is about a guy named James who wears a tie and he's like a president and there's a big war that tries to destroy him so he pulls the tie off and he fights his way through using the tie like nunchucks. Wapow!"

8-year-old girl: "I think it would be about people who like to dress up. They pretend that they're famous and that they're really, really, really important."
