Zero Tolerance Policies at Daycares Are Getting Pretty Ridiculous
There is an alarming new trend sweeping the country, and no, I'm not talking about the new "style" trend lamely known as "normcore," I'm talking about kicking preschoolers out of class as a result of zero tolerance policies.
HELLO? You run a daycare, you should be familiar with the behavior of this particular age group. Basically they are tiny psychopaths who care not for your policies. This is the entire gist of toddlerhood. So I ask you (insert Jerry Seinfeld voice here) what's the deal with zero tolerance policies at daycares? That's like trying to enforce a no fighting policy at hockey games.
Not gonna happen.
And yet, foolish daycare owners across this great nation are kicking out toddlers right and left for violating various policies. The latest incident comes to us from Texas where a 3-year-old was kicked out for cursing. Yes, cursing! Probably mimicking her parents, by the way. But yeah, as an NBC affiliate in San Antonio notes, Arianna is banned from Jubilee Child Development Center for swearing. And not even the big swear either, not "THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the 'F-dash-dash-dash' word," as Ralphie from "A Christmas Story" would phrase it.

Her mother, Cassandra Wright, tells News 4 San Antonio exactly which word gets a toddler expelled from Jubilee Child Development Center. "Which was the 'S' word. I don't condone her saying it but for that to be a faith-based daycare I would think that they would re-enforce and let her know that's not a word to say."
When asked if the zero tolerance policy isn't a smidge harsh for a toddler daycare, director Alissa Blankenship superbly demonstrates exactly what kind of person would set up a zero tolerance policy for toddlers.
"Well as a private center and also a parent myself, you know there's decisions and choices that we have to make." She adds since Arianna laughed after saying the curse word she might say it again. "I didn't think that this would be an isolated incident either."
Of course she laughed! She's a toddler!

How about taking the opportunity to teach Arianna and the other children about cursing and why we don't use curse words? Except me, I use curse words. And I enjoy it very much. I'm lucky there is no zero tolerance policy for me or I'd be expelled from my life.
