5 Things You Need to Know About 'SNL' New Girl

Longtime “Saturday Night Live” actors Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, and Jason Sudeikis will be missed — but less now that fans have learned new girl Noël Wells will be a featured castmember starting with the show's 39th season premiere on  September 28 with Tina Fey hosting and Arcade Fire as musical guest.  If previous experience is any indication as to whether Wells will fit in with the "SNL" family and comedy style, then she's got it in the bag, as evidenced by her online work on Cracked.com, Funny or Die and personal YouTube channel. There are her famous impressions (Zooey Deschanel is so spot on some of the commenters mistook Wells for the “New Girl” actress); her online series Manic Pixie Girl, where she plays an archetype of Deschanel's airhead hipster character on "New Girl" Jessica Day; and political satire based on the likes of Michele Bachman and Rick Santorum. The comedian performed regularly at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade in L.A. (famous alums include Aziz Ansari, Ed Helms, and Abby Elliot), where she honed her humor in front of live audiences.
