7 Etsy Prints Inspired by A.A. Milne that Will Brighten Your Home — and Your Day!

So many children have been charmed by the words of A.A. Milne and yet so few know this author's first name. Do you? Can you guess? It's Alan. (Not what you expected?) Alan Alexander Milne was born January 18th, 1882. Happy (Almost) Birthday, Mr. Milne! He died in 1956, 30 years after creating the legacy of Pooh. Milne was a noted author before he became famous for Winnie the Pooh. When he was young, he was taught by the famous English author, H.G. Wells. Maybe that's where he got the initial-instead-of-first-name idea. Winnie the Pooh was inspired by Milne's son, Christopher Robin Milne. His stuffed bear, named Edward, became Winnie the Pooh. This name came from a real bear from the London Zoo that was used as a sort of military mascot during World War I. Christopher had other stuffed animals - Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, and Tigger - who became characters in the Hundred Acre Wood. Milne came up with Rabbit and Owl on his own. Milne's adorable stories are universally beloved. Some of my earliest memories are of Tigger stuck in a tree, Pooh floating up to a beehive with a balloon, and Christopher Robin saying, "Silly old bear." But the wisdom of A.A. Milne isn't silly. It's simple, but profound. Take a look at 7 Etsy prints that are sure to brighten your home - and your day. -By Kacy Faulconer
