France, and its stylish capital in particular, has captivated luminaries from Gertrude Stein to Pamela Druckerman, whose best-seller about the superiority of French parenting inspired Danzy Senna's hilarious essay in Vogue's November issue, "Bringing Down Bébé." Senna isn't the first to have found la belle France unwilling to uphold her every fantasy, and yet the place maintains a firm grasp on our imaginations, as can be seen by this influx of new titles. It would seem that when it comes to setting a standard for food, fashion, and a certain je ne sais quoi, we'll always have Paris.
