8 Surprising Trans-Fatty Foods

Yesterday's news that the Food and Drug Administration plans to ban trans fats was a big deal around the R29 offices. Lower risk of heart disease? Sign us up. But, a lot of us were wondering nervously about which of our favorite indulgences might be affected. Remember, the FDA is moving to end the use of partially hydrogenated oils - the prime source of trans fat - not trans fat itself. Since companies aren't currently obligated to report trans fat content if it's below one gram per serving - regardless of how big that serving is - banning those oils would prevent companies from sneaking in any trans fats at all into our favorite foods.

We did some sleuthing to round up some of the more surprising trans fat offenders. Now, these products likely aren't going to be taken off the shelves - but the companies that manufacture them will need to reformulate the ingredients to no longer contain partially hydrogenated oils.
