Bearly Newborn: 7 Photos of the Cutest, Happiest Baby Panda Ever!

I know that this teeny-tiny baby panda isn't really smiling. I mean, not really. Except…it's totally smiling in these photos shared by Asia's largest zoo on the Taipei Zoo Facebook page. Taipei Zoo, located in Taipei City in Taiwan, is a leader in conservation, education, and research. The cub's parents, Yuan Yuan and Tuan Tuan, were gifts from China in 2006. She is the first such panda cub born outside mainland China that will be allowed to remain in its birthplace, reported Global News. The female cub was born to giant panda Yuan Yuan on July 6. At birth, the cub weighed only 183.4 grams (about 6 and a half ounces) and was 15.5 cm (6.1 inches) in length. Nurses at the zoo nicknamed the cub "Yuanzai" because she looked like a yuan zai, a rice meatball. She'll get her official name in a few months.
