Inexpensive high chairs may lack the sleek and modern design of some luxury high chairs, but the best ones offer comfort and safety without a price that makes you feel like throwing food against the wall. They are easy to use and may actually have more amenities than pricier models. The budget high chairs recommended here cost $80 or less and were selected by Cheapism.com based on their affordability, features, and reviews by experts and consumers.

The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association certifies high chairs that meet certain specifications and have been tested against a set of safety standards. Before purchasing a high chair, look for the "JPMA Certified" seal. Parents can opt for even more safety features than the certification mandates. For instance, one standard is a three-point harness that fastens around the waist, as well as a post between the legs to keep the child from slipping out. Experts recommend a five-point harness with additional straps over the shoulders to secure a child in the chair.

The high chairs shown here come with five-point harnesses and other convenient features, as well. They recline into several different positions, making bottle-feeding easier. The food trays/inserts are dishwasher-safe and detach with one hand. And the seat pads can be thrown in the washing machine for easy cleaning.
