Clutter Dominates the Home of the Typical American Family

It seems that today American families have more possessions and less space than ever before. In new book Life at Home in the 21st Century: 32 Families Open Their Doors , anthropologists from UCLA's Cotsen Institute of Archaeology, working with photographer Enzo Ragazzini, documented the chaos and clutter in 32 ordinary middle class homes. The takeaway? Those junk rooms, piles of cords and overstuffed cabinets looks just as bad as you fear they do.--Erica Boorstein
