Colorful Wedding Dresses: So Now, and so Not a Fad

by Caitlin Van Horn

When Vera Wang, one of the most famous wedding dress designers in recent history, presents a Fall 2014 runway show consisting entirely of colored wedding dresses, one thing's for certain: White is slowly loosening its hold on a woman's wedding day getup. While this trend has been gaining more momentum recently, it's got a longer history than you'd think...

Even if you're not a celeb, colored gowns can work for you. All sorts of bright-hued dresses are popping up in collections, like a mint green number from Claire Pettibone, Watters' fluttery ballet-pink gown, and an Oscar De La Renta that's got your "something blue" all covered. Once you've got the perfect dress, it's just a matter of keeping the rest of your ensemble simple (here's where the ivory, taupe, and ecru work best-non-clashing shoes, accessories, and bridesmaids!) so that you and your gorgeous dress can shine!
