Rule 2: Neon is the new black. And the old black. In fact there is no black, just neon.

Rule 3: Please take your centaur costume very seriously

Rule 4: Wonder Woman never goes out of style

Rule 5: It's never too hot for a full body, heat-conducting bird suit. Man up.

Rule 6: Weird bikinis with head-pieces are considered corporate casual

Rule 7: Never break character, even if your character is nondescript face-paint guy

Rule 8: Kids will always look cooler than adults in their costumes

Some people go for the comics, others for the celebrity sightings. But for a special group of Comic-con attendees, it's all about the costumes. Capes, wigs, face-paint and masks, this week's annual convention is a four day long halloween parade smack dab in the middle of summer. The only difference is that at Comic-con people take their outfits very seriously. There is nothing ironic, haphazard or mildly drunk about their peacocking. It's a cutthroat comic catwalk with well established rules that only make sense in the context of the convention. And this year is no different.
