Gender Bender: 7 Boys Names that Work for Girls

When we decided on a name for my first little girl, Harlan, it was so exciting. Harlan is my mother-in-law's maiden name and when I heard it, I fell in love. As soon as I found out it was a girl, we called everyone and told them our name choice. Everyone that we told loved the name but said that they have typically seen it used as a boys name and not a girls name. Obviously the name had great significance to us and I thought it sounded like the perfect girl's name even if it was a "boy's" name. When we found out we were having another girl, I wanted to use another family name. Unfortunately there weren't many that I really loved except for Avery. Avery is my grandfather's middle name. It's also the middle name of my little brother. Again, it was another "boy's" name. I never planned for my girls to have names that are typically seen on boys, but I fell in love with them and that's what we decided. I really do love the trend of giving boy names for girls. I've collected 7 of my favorite names that are typically seen on boys but would make great girl's names too! - By Lauren Jimeson
