Kentucky Teen Documents Sick Grandmother's Lovely Life Through Instagram

A teenager from Louisville, Ky., is teaching his 80-year-old great-grandmother about the joys of social media before she passes away. Following Grandma Betty's recent lung cancer diagnosis, her grandson, Zach Belden, created an Instagram to feature photos of the octogenarian and her late-husband. From those first #TBT posts the account evolved to include snapshots of a day in the life of Grandma Betty that include her taking naps, watching "Law and Order SVU," snapping selfies with her children and grandkids, and getting her hair done. Zach also captures cute videos of the elder doling out wise advice and observations, dancing to her favorite music (appropriately filtered in black and white), as well as more contemporary hits like Pharrell Williams' "Happy" (the award winning music producer even started following the account after seeing it). @grandmabetty33 has quickly accumulated a massive fanbase and currently has almost 23,000 followers. "I'm glad I get to share her story," Zach told WDRB. "Because I want to remember her forever." — Lauren Tuck, Shine Staff
