James Gandolfini: American Dad

One reason actor James Gandolfini's death on Wednesday has shaken us so deeply is because of the fierce animal love he radiated as a father on both 'The Sopranos' and in real life. As the dark, complicated character of Tony, the actor was a brutish daddy lion both feared and worshipped by his pride. He was also that beast who went weak with affection for his backyard flock of wild ducks. In life, as these photos show, he was a papa bear, a big hearted and hands on, who adored his two children Michael, 13, and Liliana Ruth, eight months. --Sarah B. Weir, Shine Senior Writer
